For 25 years the Rogers Island Visitors Center has been preserving the history of Rogers Island. The center’s exhibits and events educate visitors from near and far about the important role Rogers Island and Fort Edward played in early American history. Join us on August 1, 2026 for a free community day to celebrate our 25th Anniversary season!
Events will include scheduled tours of the Visitors Center’s exhibits, a walking tour of the historic sites on Rogers Island, children’s games and activities, raffles, concession, and a limited number of bricks from Old Fort Edward will be available for sale.

10:30 am – Visitors Center Tour/30-45 Minutes
Get an overview of the history of Rogers Island and Fort Edward and the role they played in early American history as you are guided through the exhibits of the Visitors center. 30-45 minutes.
1:00 pm – Walking Tour of the Historic Sites on Rogers Island/Approximately 1 hour.
Our tour guide will tell the of Island’s history and its inhabitants, explain its importance in early American history, and describe the important archaeological excavations conducted by Dr. David Starbuck as we walk on scenic Roger’s Island along the Hudson River.
Bring water, sunscreen, and bug spray. We will be traveling on unmaintained paths, over uneven ground, and through mowed fields. Appropriate footwear and clothing for tick protection are recommended. Group will gather and depart from the shaded area outside the front door of the visitor center.
3:00 pm – Visitors Center Tour/30-45 minutes (see description above)
3:30/3:45pm – Raffle prize winners drawn (after the conclusion of the 3:00pm tour)
