French & Indian War Encampment & Battle Reenactment-September 21st & 22nd, 2024

Come to Rogers Island on September 21st and 22nd for a French & Indian War Encampment and Battle Reenactment. Experience life in an 18th century military camp. View naval and land battles. Reenactors will include Rangers, Soldiers, Sailors, Bateau men and Native Americans.

September 21st & 22nd, 10:00am-5pm – Rain or Shine!

Why not take in the turning of Autumn by motoring over to the Upper Hudson Valley and witness a French & Indian War reenactment on Rogers Island, historic home of the US Army Rangers in Fort Edward, New York.

Stand on hallowed ground where Robert Rogers & his Rangers lived and prepared for battle during the French & Indian War.   The very land where Major Robert Rogers wrote his Rules of Ranging for his Rangers which are still used today by our US Army Rangers and Special Forces.

Reenactors representing the British, French, Provincial soldiers, Native Indian Allies and camp followers will take you back in time to experience colonial military camp life.   Let the sights and sounds draw you to that place in history – the scent of smoke drifting to the treetops as meat slowly roasts over campfires, hear the distant crack of Brown Bess musket fire as the pungent scent of gunpowder lingers in the air.  Note the musketry, the   tomahawks, the swords, and other camp tools of the day.

Tour the camp and view the reenactors all day. Battles will take place at scheduled times. On Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. watch as the soldiers demonstrate battle scenarios.   Weapons, canon, and naval bateaux exhibitions will take place throughout the day while the camp followers perform their daily duties.   Feel free to interact with the reenactors before and after the military demonstrations.   Bring your children and grandkids to learn about our American history!

Be sure to also stop in the Visitor Center, view the exhibits, learn more about the history of Rogers Island, and visit our Gift Shop before you go!
